Systemd Bug Lets Attackers Hack Linux Boxes via Malicious DNS Packets

A bug in systemd — an init system used in many Linux distributions to start and manage processes — allows an attacker to crash or take over machines via malicious DNS packets. Canonical developer Chris Coulson discovered the issue, which is tracked under the identifier of CVE-2017-9445. The vulnerability affects all Linux distros that ship systemd versions between 223 and 233.
